4. There were two mini lessons that our class did that I believe helped me make my final pen and ink project be a success. One of them was drawing the texture cylinder. Where we split up a cylinder we drew into nine pieces and in each piece we were supposed to draw a completely different texture using the pen and ink medium. This made the overall visual texture look realistic. The objects in the final piece looked as it would feel if it was touched. The last mini lesson we did focused on stippling, which is a pen and ink technique that can be found in my final project a lot. We were given a paper with four different shapes, that were made of stippling. We were to copy the shapes using the stippling technique while creating shadows and highlights at the same time. Practicing making shadows and highlights while stippling made a positive impact on my final project. ...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
6. Out of all the different mediums i worked with this semester, my favorite one was watercolor. In the watercolor/ colored pencil/ and pastel unit I choose to use watercolor paint for my final project. Since it was my first time working with watercolor I didn't know that much about it, and didn't know how to use it correctly. That project was more time consuming than my other ones because of all the layers i had to paint. When working with watercolor i learned that you have to work your way up to get your desired color/shade. Before the final project i did one mini project/lesson about working with watercolor where I painted cherries. Because of this I had a better understanding of how many layers for shadows and highlights i'd need because the paint tends to be more transparent than opaque. I also learned that watercolor paint is a lot harder to control than acrylic paint, so i had to be very careful when painting smaller details and thinner lines. In the end my final project for that unit looked good for my first time. I would definitely use this medium again. ...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
7. There were a few projects that i felt i was unsuccessful in but there was one that was worse than all the others. The Printmaking project we did was definitely not my best work at all. In the beginning of the semester I was looking forward to this project the most because when i did the same thing in art one, I was happy with how it turned out so i thought I'd finish this project the same way. I started the printmaking project great, by sketching out the building i picked and then coloring it. Once i started carving into the linoleum i would mess up and cut out something that wasn't supposed to be cut yet. But the main reason why this project was my least favorite was when i started to print and press. The layers weren't aligned with each other and the ink would smear a lot. If i was change anything about what i did, it'd be to be a bit more careful when pressing the different layers of ink so that they were aligned. I'd also make sure i wouldn't move the linoleum when it was against my paper so that the ink wouldn't smear as much. ...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
1. I'd say that my artistic style would be more of abstract expressionism. Success as an artist to me means to be able to express different emotions in your works. Also being able to take something out in your artwork, even if its something with no meaning. If you or someone else are able to connect with your work then i would consider that being successful. Being happy with your work also means being successful as an artist to me, so as long as you're happy with it then nobody else's opinions matter. Some of the skills to have that i think are important to create your work are patience, steadiness, and being good at consuming your time wisely. Some things that i have learned from art making is that your artwork wont always turn out how you think it will. Another thing is that the more experience you have the better your artwork you have because your technique will continue to build up. ...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
